Sydney Barrow has been appointed as the assistant coach for the Illinois College women's soccer team, known as the Lady Blues. Previously, Barrow worked at Southwestern Consulting as an executive assistant and leadership coach.
Barrow expressed her enthusiasm about joining the team: "I could not be more excited to be joining the Lady Blues Women's Soccer team! Hunter was my coach in high school and college and I cannot wait to be working alongside him again. The women on the team have so much talent and passion for the game that I am looking forward to seeing how far this team will go."
Barrow will work with her former collegiate coach, Hunter Gray, who is now the head coach of the Lady Blues. She played under Gray at Birmingham-Southern College from 2017 to 2020, where she achieved national rankings in six categories, including nine game-winning goals.
Coach Gray shared his excitement about Barrow's new role: "I am super excited that Sydney is joining our team this fall! I have known her for 10+ years and have coached her at the high school and college levels. Sydney was an outstanding player and I am looking forward to seeing her transition into this new role!"
The Lady Blues are set to begin their 2023 season with a home game against Rhodes College on September 1 at England Stadium.
