BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois College softball team faced a challenging day as they lost both games in a non-conference doubleheader against Illinois Wesleyan University at Inspiration Field. The Lady Blues' record now stands at 5-12, while the Titans improved to 10-4.

In the first game, IWU started strong with a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Illinois College responded with two runs in the second inning, highlighted by Elysia Hand's single that scored Calynn Gicante and Delaney Melton driving in Hand on a ground out. Despite regaining a brief lead in the third inning with contributions from Emma Hardiek and Melton, IWU took control with eight runs later in the same inning.

The Lady Blues continued to fight back with three runs in the fourth and one more in the seventh thanks to Megan Doolittle's solo home run. Elysia Hand led IC's offense with three hits and two RBI, while Julia Drake took the loss after allowing 11 runs over her time pitching.

In game two, IWU quickly established a commanding 6-0 lead after just one inning. However, Illinois College gradually narrowed this gap through efforts from Taylor Henry, Kendall Cole, Jaycie Edwards' home run, and additional plays from Henry and Gicante.

Despite their efforts, IWU secured victory by adding two insurance runs late into the game. Taylor Henry had an impressive performance with three hits and two RBI for IC. Crouch was credited with the loss for IC after allowing six runs early on.

Illinois College will look to recover when they travel to Millikin for another doubleheader scheduled for Friday at noon.
