Illinois College's softball team concluded their regular season with a split doubleheader against Cornell College on Sunday in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. The Lady Blues won the first game 4-0, led by Julia Drake's shutout pitching and Cheyenne Anderson's three-run homer. However, they fell in the second game 9-1.

In the opening game, Illinois College took an early lead with Anderson's home run in the first inning, which also brought Calynn Gicante and Kayla Serpa across the plate. Taylor Henry added another run in the seventh inning with a single that scored Anderson. Drake delivered a strong performance from the mound, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing only five hits while striking out five batters. This victory improved her season record to 11-8.

The second game saw Cornell bounce back with two four-run innings to secure their win. Illinois College initially led when Serpa drove Claudia Adam home in the second inning. However, Cornell responded with four runs of their own in that inning and continued to build their lead throughout the game.

Taylor Henry was charged with the loss for Illinois College after allowing five runs over four innings. Hannah Crouch completed the remaining 1 2/3 innings for IC.

Next up for Illinois College is postseason play at Lake Forest for the Midwest Conference Tournament. Details regarding seedings and matchups will be announced later.
