Josh Edison has been appointed as the new head coach for both the men's and women's golf teams at Illinois College, according to an announcement from the college's athletic department. Edison previously served as the head golf coach at Heartland Community College, where he established its first golf program, managed budgets and travel arrangements, and recruited players on a local and national scale. In addition to his coaching role, Edison was a Success Coach at Heartland Community College, aiding students in their transition to college life by offering continuous support and resources.
Edison expressed enthusiasm about his new position: "I am very excited to join the IC golf program. The previous coach left me a strong foundation that I am looking forward to building upon and continuing the trend of recruiting high-level student-athletes to play for Illinois College. I have received huge support from the entire athletic department in my short time here and look forward to joining the winning tradition they have set in athletics and in the classroom."
His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University, where he was also part of the men's golf team. He furthered his studies at Illinois State with a Master of Science in Sports Psychology and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology: Performance from Grand Canyon University.
The upcoming Spring season will see both teams in action, with the men's team scheduled to participate in the Knox College Invite on March 25th and 26th, while the women's team will host their IC Spring Opener on March 18th and 19th.
