Illinois College golf teams finish strong at Highland Championships

The Illinois College golf teams completed their participation in the Highland Championships hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. The men's team secured a second-place finish, while the women's team achieved fifth place among 12 competing teams.

On Friday's opening round, Samuel Frericks led the men's team with a score of 70, and Jarrett James contributed a 72. On the second day, James led the Blueboys with a round of 73, resulting in a three-way tie for second place overall with a total score of 145. The men's team concluded the championships with an overall score of 599.

For the women's team, Amy Fowler led after day one with a score of 79, while Alyvia Burr added an 85. In the final round, Burr posted an individual score of 82 to lead her team, and Fowler scored an 85. Fowler finished tied for tenth place overall with a total score of 164. The women's team ended with a score of 680 to secure fifth place.

Looking ahead, the men's team will compete at the Aurora Fall Invite in Aurora, Illinois on Tuesday, September 5th. Meanwhile, the women's team is set to host a JV match on Wednesday, September 6th at The Links Golf Course in Jacksonville, Illinois.
