The Illinois College women's track and field team began their outdoor season competing in two events over the weekend. The team was divided, with some athletes traveling to the Redbird Challenge at Illinois State and others attending the Millikin Alumni Invite.
At the Redbird Challenge, Aleese Trimingham achieved two top-eight finishes. She placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.91 and eighth in the 100-meter hurdles clocking in at 15.05 seconds. Haley Garrett secured seventh place in the 200 meters with a time of 25.26 seconds and Morgan Carrino placed eighth in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 22:05.38. Brooke Oakley completed the set of top individual finishes from IC by placing tenth in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.50 meters. The IC 4x100-meter relay team, comprising McKenzie Murray, Fynesse Jones, Garrett, and Mady Salisbury, finished fifth in their race with a time of 52.14 seconds.
During the Millikin Alumni Invite, Natalie Hasting claimed victory in the hammer throw, reaching a mark of 39.29 meters. Delane Teno earned second place in the event, Leslie Earles fourth, and Lindsey Ruff fifth. Keyleigh Thomas earned second in the javelin with a throw of 39.99 meters, and Hannah Claghorn mirrored the placement in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 24:19.38.
Caroline Peters finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:33.60, and Abby Love completed the race in fifth at 2:35.91. Ruff also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.02 meters, while Hasting and Earles completed the top five. Additionally, Hasting placed third in the discus, reaching a distance of 33.30 meters.
Looking ahead, Illinois College is set to host their annual True Blue Invite this coming Friday at England Stadium. Field events are scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m., followed by running events at 4:00 p.m.
