Illinois College has appointed Dirk Doehring as the new head coach for its Track and Field team. Doehring has been an assistant coach for eight seasons, contributing to 77 All-Conference performances and 24 Midwest Conference individual event champions. Under his guidance, student-athletes have set 14 school records.
"I am thrilled that Meghan and the Search Committee have entrusted me with the opportunity to continue to lead the IC track & field programs moving forward! I have seen firsthand the success that is possible here at Illinois College and am very excited to build a program that the entire IC community can be proud of," said Doehring.
Before joining Illinois College, Doehring was a volunteer assistant at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. During his tenure there, the Illini achieved 41 Big Ten finalists in sprints, jumps, and hurdles, with members winning 11 Big Ten titles. They also earned six First Team All-American honors and five Second Team All-America accolades.
Doehring's previous roles include director of Track and Field and Cross Country at Millikin University, where he coached teams to 14 CCIW champions and two NCAA Division III All-Americans. His early career involved coaching positions at Millikin University, Defiance College, and Delaware State University.

His experience in track & field and with Illinois College makes him a great fit to continue our traditions of success in the sport and continue to produce a great experience for our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Meghan Roman.
Doehring holds a degree from Millikin University (2002) and a master's from Defiance College (2010). He possesses USATF Level One Certification along with USTFCCCA Jumping Events Specialist Certification.
