Illinois College quarterback Destin Chance has been announced as a finalist for the 2024 Gagliardi Trophy. The announcement was made by the J-Club and d3football.com in Collegeville, Minnesota. Chance is among five finalists for this prestigious award.

During the 2024 season, Chance completed 234 of 381 passes, totaling 3,593 yards and scoring 50 touchdowns. Additionally, he rushed for 586 yards on 89 carries, achieving eight touchdowns. This marks his second consecutive year as a semifinalist.

The Gagliardi Trophy has been awarded annually since 1993 to recognize the most outstanding NCAA Division III football player. It honors excellence not only in athletics but also in academics and community service. The trophy is named after John Gagliardi, a legendary Hall of Fame head football coach from Saint John's University who passed away in 2018 at age 91. Gagliardi retired in 2012 with a record of 489 career victories, the highest in college football history.

The winner will be revealed on January 3. The national selection committee includes members such as Division III coaches, administrators, regional notable voters, and national voters with Division III backgrounds.
