JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College men's and women's swim teams hosted Monmouth College in a dual meet on Saturday. The event featured several notable individual performances from the host team.
The Lady Blues saw Tovah Brooks break a record in the 200-yard Butterfly, securing first place with a time of 2:27.24. The team went on to win eight out of the 11 events that day. Marjori Russo contributed significantly with wins in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.01) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:56.09).
On the men's side, known as the Blueboys, three event wins were achieved. Nathen Trachta led by winning the 50-yard freestyle (22.53) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.55). Xavier Applegate also earned a victory in the 400-yard IM, finishing with a time of 5:07.58.
Both teams are set to compete again at Monmouth College next Saturday at 1:00 PM.
