Illinois College athletes shine at Fighting Scot Invitational

Two individual athletes and a relay team from the Illinois College women's track and field team secured first-place victories at the Fighting Scot Invitational, held at April Zorn Memorial Stadium in Monmouth, Illinois.

Aleese Trimingham claimed victory in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.88 seconds. Her teammate Patricia Rivera placed fifth, completing the race in 17.80 seconds.

In the javelin event, Keyleigh Thomas achieved first place with a throw measuring 34.41 meters. Carson Beyers from Illinois College took fourth place with a throw of 32.43 meters.

The Lady Blue relay team triumphed in the 4x100-meter relay event, finishing with a time of 47.97 seconds. The winning team consisted of Mattie Brown, Mady Salisbury, Haley Garrett, and Deja Anderson.

In the 100-meter dash, Anderson finished second with a time of 12.25 seconds. Brown followed closely behind in third place at 12.37 seconds, while Garrett secured fourth place with a time of 12.43 seconds.

Maddie Benson earned second place in the pole vault by clearing a height of 3.15 meters; Paige Nowak finished third by clearing 3.00 meters.

Sydney Kuper delivered two third-place performances: one in discus with a throw of 38.82 meters and another in hammer throw at 46.68 meters.

Salisbury also achieved third place in high jump by clearing a height of 1.38 meters.

Anderson was fourth in long jump with her leap measuring 5.20 meters, while Trimingham placed fourth in the 200-meter race with a time of 28.04 seconds.

Lindsey Ruff took fifth place in shot put with her throw reaching 11.27 meters.

Illinois College is set to host the upcoming Midwest Conference Championship next weekend at England Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
