The Illinois College men's tennis team faced challenging matches as they began their Midwest Conference play with visits to Grinnell College and Cornell College. Despite their efforts, the Blueboys were defeated in both encounters, each ending with a score of 0-9.

In the first match against Grinnell, Illinois College struggled in doubles competition, losing all three matches. The No. 1 doubles team of Jeff Wernsing and Glenn Conway managed to secure two set victories, which was the highest achievement for IC in these matches.

During singles play, Wernsing participated in the No. 1 singles match and achieved five set victories but ultimately lost in straight sets. Momir Vickovic also showed determination in the No. 6 singles match by collecting three set victories during the second set but could not clinch a win.

The second match against Cornell proved equally demanding for Illinois College. In doubles play, Andrus Dupre and Grayson Dupre captured two set victories but fell short with a final score of 2-8.

In singles competition against Cornell's Rams, IC fought hard but dropped all six matches. Conway's performance in the No. 2 singles match included four set victories before he lost the set 4-6. Allen Oakley also made an effort in the No. 5 singles match by earning three set victories yet was defeated with a score of 3-6.

Illinois College is scheduled to return home to Bellatti Tennis Complex on Wednesday, April 10th to face Kaskasia College at 3:00 PM in Jacksonville, Illinois.
