Illinois College women’s swim team splits results in season opener

The Illinois College women's swimming and diving team began their season with mixed results in a double dual meet on Friday at the Decatur Family YMCA Pool. The Lady Blues secured a victory against North Central with a score of 103-75 but were defeated by Millikin, finishing with a score of 108-78.

Notable performances included those of Julie Edwards and Abby Stevens. Edwards, a sophomore from Loves Park, Ill., achieved first place in both the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke events. Meanwhile, freshman Abby Stevens from Canton, Ill., won the 1,000-yard freestyle in her debut collegiate competition.

The Lady Blues will continue their season tomorrow as they host Coe at the Coultas Natatorium for their home opener at 1:00 p.m.
