The Illinois College E-Sports team has commenced its postseason with a notable win in the MEC Rocket League Championship. On Tuesday, they defeated Glenville State 3-1, marking a strong start to their playoff journey. Entering the tournament as the #2 seed following a 4-2 regular season, IC maintained their competitive edge.

The match unfolded with Illinois College taking three out of four games against Glenville State. The scores were as follows: Game 1 ended 4-3 in favor of IC, Game 2 was won by IC with a score of 3-1, Glenville State claimed Game 3 at 2-1, and finally, IC secured Game 4 with a narrow victory of 2-1.

Throughout the season leading up to this match, IC had consistently outperformed Glenville State with an aggregate score of 6-0. This trend continued during Tuesday's game. Glenn Conway emerged as the top scorer for IC, netting five goals while also contributing eight saves and three assists. Teammates Dwight Duijneveld and Kieran Powers also made significant contributions; Duijneveld scored three goals and provided three assists, whereas Powers added two goals.

The playoff structure features four teams competing in a double elimination format. Illinois College is set to face off against either Mount Saint Mary's University or Bridgewater College on October 29th at 7:30 pm. A victory would advance them to the finals; however, if they lose, they will move to the losers bracket for another chance at reaching the finals. Notably, both of IC's losses this season were against Mount Saint Mary's University.
