Illinois College falls to Glenville State in Overwatch playoffs

The Illinois College E-Sports team faced a setback in the opening round of the MEC (UCL) Overwatch 2 playoff series, losing to Glenville State. Entering the playoffs with a 4-4 record and ranked as the #3 seed, Illinois College had previously lost two matches against Glenville State during the regular season.

This defeat places Illinois College in the Losers' Round of the double-elimination tournament. The team must secure three consecutive victories to advance to the championship.

In Game 1, Illinois College lost 0-2, followed by a 1-2 loss in both Games 2 and 3. Matthew Hallanger was a standout player for Illinois College, achieving 30 eliminations and 15 assists with a KDA of 1.67. Noah Horsman also performed well, ending with a KDA of 2.19 and inflicting significant damage on Glenville State. Bunni Little and Jose Izaguirre-Gomez contributed significantly to healing efforts for their team.

Looking ahead, Illinois College will face Pratt Community College on Thursday, October 31st at 7:00 pm in what is effectively a win-or-go-home match.
