Illinois College Esports defeats Wartburg to secure spot in MVEC Finals

The Illinois College Esports team achieved a decisive victory against Wartburg College in a Midwest Esports Conference (MVEC) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU) match, concluding the regular season with a 2-0 win. This result places Illinois College at a 5-1 standing for the MVEC Smash season.

In the first game, Illinois College dominated with a score of 6-0, thanks to Daniel Scott leading the attack and earning three points. Julian Luaders and Jake Petrovich also contributed significantly to the team's performance. The second game saw both Luaders and Petrovich scoring two points each, securing a 4-2 victory over Wartburg.

The individual performances were notable: Julian Luaders achieved six knockouts with two falls, resulting in a K/F ratio of 3.0; Daniel Scott had four knockouts with three falls and a K/F ratio of 1.3; Jake Petrovich recorded six knockouts with three falls and maintained a K/F ratio of 2.0.

With this victory, Illinois College has secured their place in the MVEC Finals at Simpson College in April for the Smash event.

Looking ahead, Illinois College will face Wartburg College again on Tuesday for their final match of the fall season in Rocket League.
