The Illinois College women's track and field team made a strong start to the 2024-25 season at the Titan First Chance Meet, held at the Shirk Center Indoor Track on Illinois Wesleyan's campus in Bloomington, Illinois. Several athletes from the Lady Blues achieved personal bests during the competition.
Two athletes from Illinois College were crowned champions at the event. Aleese Trimingham won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.43 seconds. Morgan Carrino secured first place in the 3,000 meters, finishing with a time of 12:13.18.
Deja Anderson excelled in the long jump, achieving second place with a leap of 5.40 meters and tying her personal best in the 60 meters with a time of 7.95 seconds. Fynesse Jones also performed well in the long jump, placing fourth and setting a personal best with a distance of 5.21 meters.
Maddie Benson tied her personal best in the pole vault and achieved the third-best mark in program history by clearing 3.25 meters, securing second place.
In shot put events, Leslie Earles placed third with a throw of 11.79 meters, while Lindsey Ruff came fourth with an 11.15 meter mark.
Brooke Oakley finished fourth in the 300 meters, clocking a time of 43.75 seconds, and Natalie Hastings took fourth place in weight throw with a distance of 14.32 meters.
The Lady Blues will take a break for the holiday season before returning to competition on January 25th when they host the Snowbird Open.
