FOIA Request to Illinois Community College Board Regarding Employee Compensation on December 11, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Sangamon Sun have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) for records pertaining to employee compensation within community colleges.
Specifically, we are seeking a list of all community college employees along with their respective compensation details. The requested fields include the employee's name, title, work email, university name, employment type, and compensation amount.
Our mission as a media organization is to gather and report news to the public. Access to public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which encompass holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await the Illinois Community College Board's response and will continue our pursuit of transparency in local government affairs.
