The Illinois College men's basketball team secured a 77-62 victory over Monmouth in a Midwest Conference game at Sherman Gymnasium on Saturday. This win brought the Blueboys' overall record to 9-4 and 2-2 in conference play, while Monmouth's record shifted to 8-4 and 2-1.
Monmouth initially took a five-point lead within the first four minutes of the game. However, Illinois College tied the score at 18 with just over ten minutes left in the first half. The Blueboys then launched an 11-0 run, highlighted by Josh Harris scoring seven points and Javonte McKenzie adding three. By halftime, Illinois College held an 11-point lead at 43-32.
In the second half, Illinois College maintained control of the game. Although Monmouth narrowed the gap to eight points with around eight minutes remaining, Nathan Bobikiewicz hit two three-pointers, and Buzz Ritzel scored a layup to extend their lead. The Blueboys eventually increased their advantage to as much as 18 points before securing the win.
Buzz Ritzel led Illinois College with a team-high of 20 points. Josh Harris contributed 19 points, and Ty Lenhardt added another 14 points. Javonte McKenzie was notable for his team-high eight rebounds along with nine points.

Illinois College will continue their season on Wednesday with an away game against Beloit in another Midwest Conference matchup scheduled for a start time of 7:30 pm.
