Illinois College men's swimming team remains undefeated after victory over Monmouth

The Illinois College men's swimming team maintained their unbeaten streak, advancing to an 8-0 record this season with a victory over Monmouth. The match took place in Monmouth, Illinois, where the Blueboys secured a 115-78 win on Saturday.

The team excelled in relay events, with John Masiliunas, Cooper Meyer, Eli Eberle, and Scottie Nicotra winning the 400-yard medley relay in 3:45.65. Another team consisting of Nicotra, Scott Sosnowski, Eberle, and Nathen Trachta triumphed in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:25.65.

In individual performances, Cade Emerick stood out by winning both the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:00.68 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:18.25. Nicotra claimed victory in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:54.83. Trachta was successful in the 400-yard IM event clocking in at 4:35.06 and also won the 100-yard freestyle finishing at 49.93 seconds.

Additional wins came from Masiliunas who finished first in the 100-yard backstroke at 57.71 seconds and Meyer who won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.25.

Looking ahead, the Blueboys are set to compete against North Central next Saturday in Naperville, Illinois. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
