Illinois College athletes set records at Grinnell Invitational

Devin Boggs and Dylan Doss led the Illinois College men's track and field team to a fourth-place finish at the Grinnell Invitational. The event took place on Saturday at the Grinnell Field House, where the Blueboys accumulated 81 points among 11 competing teams.

Dylan Doss achieved significant success by winning three events. He excelled in the long jump with a leap of 6.89 meters, secured victory in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.84 seconds, and triumphed in the 200-meter dash clocking in at 21.51 seconds. Both his times in the sprints set new school records, while his performance in the 200-meter also established a new record for the Grinnell Field House.

In another notable achievement, Devin Boggs broke his own school record by finishing the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:07.04. In this event, Robby Biesenthal also made an impact by recording a time of 16:16.81, which is now recognized as the third-fastest time in Illinois College history.

The team also saw Adam Hernandez secure third place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.61 seconds and Jacob Kollman achieving third place in the triple jump reaching a distance of 12.04 meters. Deon Rodgers claimed fourth place in shot put with a throw measuring 13.81 meters, while Jaden Saunders placed fifth in long jump with his leap of 6.36 meters.

Looking ahead, Illinois College's track and field team will host their next competition at Jacksonville during the Dr. Jim Green Invitational on Saturday at King Field House starting at 10:00 a.m.
