The Illinois College women's track and field team achieved a second-place finish at the Grinnell Invitational, held on Saturday at the Grinnell Field House in Iowa. The Lady Blues accumulated 111 points in the 12-team competition.

Among the standout performers was Deja Anderson, who secured victories in two events. Anderson clinched first place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.96 seconds and won the long jump with a leap measuring 4.99 meters.

Haley Garrett made her mark by winning the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 26.32 seconds, which is noted as the fastest in Illinois College history for this event.

Aleese Trimingham emerged victorious in the 60-meter hurdles, achieving a personal-best time of 9.33 seconds, which ranks as the third-fastest in school records. Trimingham later joined forces with Kami Rhoades, Apiphany Patterson, and Brooke Oakley to secure victory in the 4x400 meter relay, setting a new school record with a time of 4:09.32.

In other notable performances, Maddie Benson claimed second place in the pole vault by clearing a height of 3.30 meters. The team comprising Mady Salisbury, Rhoades, McKenzie Murray, and Caroline Peters also finished second in the 1600 sprint medley relay with a time of 4:28.00.

Looking ahead, the Lady Blues are set to return to Jacksonville for their next event—the Dr. Jim Green Invitational—scheduled for Saturday at King Field House starting at 10:00 a.m.
