Jayln Patterson delivered a standout performance, scoring a career-high 32 points to lead the Lady Blues to an 86-68 victory over Monmouth College on Wednesday night at Glennie Gymnasium. This win improves Illinois College's record to 8-13 overall and 5-7 in conference play, while Monmouth falls to 5-16 overall and 2-10 in conference play.
Monmouth initially took an early lead of 11-5 within the first six minutes of the game. However, Illinois College responded with a decisive 9-0 run, securing a lead they maintained for the rest of the match.
Patterson was efficient on the court, shooting 55% from the field by making 10 out of her 18 attempts and converting 10 out of her 12 free throws. She also contributed defensively with five steals, part of the team's total of 18 steals.
In addition to Patterson's contributions, Kallie Oestreicher and Anna McKee each scored ten points, including two three-pointers each. Ashlyn Wightman added nine points and led the team with eight rebounds and seven blocks. Her block tally ties her for second place in single-game blocks in program history.
"Jayln Patterson has been on fire," noted team sources, highlighting her average of 21 points per game over her last six outings. Her latest performance places her tied for third in single-game scoring for Illinois College.
The Lady Blues will next host Lawrence University for Senior Day with a scheduled tip-off at 1:00 PM.
