Illinois College shines at Dr. Jim Green Invite

Brooke Oakley and Haley Garrett played significant roles in securing two victories for the Illinois College women's track and field team at the Dr. Jim Green Invite held on Saturday inside King Fieldhouse, Jacksonville, Illinois.

Oakley, a senior from Warrensburg, Illinois, claimed victory in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.22. She then joined forces with Garrett, Fynesse Jones, and Deja Anderson to win the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 1:46.27. Garrett also excelled individually by winning the 200-meter dash in 26.23 seconds.

The Lady Blues continued their success in the Distance Medley Relay as Morgan Carrino, Kami Rhoades, Abby Love, and Caroline Peters secured first place with a time of 14:07.37, marking it as the fifth-fastest time in program history.

Other notable performances included Aleese Trimingham finishing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.32 seconds. In addition, Anderson placed fourth in the 60-meter dash clocking in at 8.09 seconds while Garrett followed closely behind at fifth place with a time of 8.10 seconds.

In field events, Maddie Benson achieved third place in pole vault by clearing 3.25 meters and Natalie Hastings took fifth place in weight throw with a mark of 14.13 meters. The team also had strong results in shot put where Leslie Earles finished third (11.21 meters), Lindsey Ruff came fourth (11.17 meters), and Hastings placed fifth (10.92 meters).

Looking ahead, the Lady Blues are set to compete next at the Roger Haynes Invitational scheduled for Saturday at Monmouth.
