The Illinois College SSBU team participated in a dual MEC showdown on Wednesday night, facing off against Cornell College and Campbellsville College. The team experienced mixed results, losing to Cornell 1-0 but achieving a decisive 7-0 victory over Campbellsville.

In the first match against Cornell, Jake Petrovich faced Camden in a close contest but ultimately fell short. Noah Horsman began by taking two stocks from Sharpie's Falco. Daniel Scott followed by claiming one more stock from Sharpie and two from Arjay's Yoshi. Devin Ussery added another stock from Arjay. Julian Luaders made a significant contribution by sweeping three stocks from TwoMan's Sonic and adding two more from MC's Terry. Jake Petrovich concluded the match by taking one stock from MC's Terry and two from Camden's Shulk.

In the second match against Campbellsville, Julian Luaders delivered an outstanding performance that was pivotal in securing the win for Illinois College. Entering the match with IC trailing 13-9, Luaders single-handedly took 13 stocks to lead his team to victory. He took one stock from Sgt. Cheesy (Diddy Kong), three stocks each from Pankakephlip (Roy), Bumpadump (King K. Rool), Barcode (Aegis), and MudkipWithBowtie (Incineroar). Theo Biela and Daniel Scott also contributed by each taking one stock from Sgt. Cheesy.

The SSBU team is scheduled to compete again on Wednesday, February 19th, against Miami University (OH) at 8:00 pm.
