Illinois College track team secures five titles at Roger Haynes Invitational

The Illinois College men's track and field team achieved notable success at the Roger Haynes Invitational, held at the Huff Athletic Center in Monmouth, Illinois. The event saw five athletes from the team securing championship titles.

In the 3,000-meter run, Robby Biesenthal led with a time of 9:10.40, closely followed by Devin Boggs who finished second in 9:25.37. Adam Hernandez excelled in multiple events, starting with a victory in the 60-meter hurdles clocking in at 8.53 seconds. He also contributed to two winning relay teams; alongside Jack Bacon, Sam Stimler, and Dylan Doss, he secured first place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.74. Hernandez also joined forces with Doss, Drew Cushman, and Bacon to claim victory in the 1,600 sprint medley relay finishing at 3:43.41.

Dylan Doss not only contributed to relay successes but also claimed the title in the long jump with a distance of 6.96 meters.

The team's performance extended beyond victories as they placed well in other events too. The 4x200-meter relay team comprising Doss, Ki'on Carson, Brady Borntreger, and Stimler finished second with a time of 1:31.68. In individual events, Hernandez placed third in the high jump clearing a height of 1.72 meters while Melvin Hodge achieved third place in shot put with a throw measuring 14.14 meters.

Other noteworthy performances included Deon Rodgers' fifth-place finishes both in shot put (13.80 meters) and weight throw (16.44 meters), as well as Caden Dettmer's fifth-place finish in the mile run posting a time of 5:00.74.

Looking ahead, Illinois College will host their final home indoor meet for this season on Friday at the King Field House during the Hilltop Classic starting at 5:00 p.m.
