Illinois College excels at Roger Haynes Invitational with six champions

The Illinois College women's track and field team had a successful outing at the Roger Haynes Invitational, held at the Huff Athletic Center in Monmouth, Illinois. The Lady Blues emerged with six individual titles.

In the 200-meter dash, Fynesse Jones led the team by finishing first with a time of 26.59 seconds. Her teammates McKenzie Murray and Haley Garrett followed closely behind, securing second and third places with times of 26.81 and 26.89 seconds respectively.

Aleese Trimingham clinched victory in the 60-meter hurdles, completing her run in 9.24 seconds.

The team also excelled in relay events, capturing three titles. The 4x200-meter relay team consisting of Garrett, Brooke Oakley, Jones, and Deja Anderson finished first with a time of 1:45.20. Another win came from the 4x400-meter relay team of Kami Rhoades, Murray, Trimingham, and Oakley who clocked in at 4:09.76. Additionally, Mady Salisbury, Rhoades, Murray, and Caroline Peters secured a win for the Lady Blues in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:30.35.

Success extended beyond track events as Deja Anderson claimed victory in the long jump event with a leap measuring 5.33 meters.

In other notable performances for Illinois College athletes; Maddie Benson placed second in pole vaulting by clearing a height of 3.22 meters while Salisbury took third place in both the pole vault (8.47 seconds) as well as Peters who finished third during her participation within this category too (1:05:53). Lastly Kevlynn DeJaynes managed to secure fifth position during weight throw competition achieving an impressive distance measuring up till around fourteen meters!

Next on their schedule is hosting duties when they welcome competitors attending Hilltop Classic scheduled Friday night starting five pm sharp over King Field House premises
