Illinois College wins against Dubuque; strong pitching leads to victory

Illinois College secured a 6-3 victory over Dubuque on Thursday morning in Auburndale, Florida. This win advances Illinois College's record to 5-3 for the season, while Dubuque stands at 3-3.

The Blueboys took an early lead with a 4-0 advantage by the second inning. The highlight was Adam Passmore's three-run home run following Logan Fleener's RBI single. Additional runs were added in the fourth and ninth innings through contributions from Louie Bartletti and Connor Hennemann.

On the mound, Charlie Lardi delivered a strong performance with ten strikeouts over 5.2 innings, conceding only two runs. Relief pitchers Andrew Wieneke and Branson Shaw combined for 3.1 innings of work, with Shaw securing the win despite Dubuque scoring late in the game.

Adam Passmore led Illinois College offensively, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Logan Fleener also contributed with two hits and an RBI. The pitching staff collectively achieved 17 strikeouts against Dubuque's lineup.

Illinois College aims to maintain their momentum as they prepare for a doubleheader against Concordia College (Minn.) on Friday before returning north.
