FOIA Request to Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs Regarding State Agency Contracts with Vendors on March 24, 2025.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in government affairs, we at Sangamon Sun have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs. Our request seeks documentation and details concerning the fulfillment of contractual obligations for all contracts executed or modified between this state agency and their vendors during January of the 2023 fiscal year.
Specifically, we are requesting records that verify the scope of work performed, deliverables completed, and any reports or evaluations related to these contracts. Access to such public records is crucial for us as media professionals dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage and holding public institutions accountable.
In line with our mission, we have requested a fee waiver due to our role in disseminating information to the public. This request aligns with our efforts as part of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental actions through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
