Charlie Lardi has been recognized as the Midwest Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, according to an announcement made by the league. This is Lardi's first time receiving this honor and marks the first time a player from Illinois College, known as the Blueboys, has earned this accolade since Jack McGuire in 2023.
Lardi's performance on Saturday was noteworthy. He pitched a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts, aiding Illinois College in sweeping Monmouth during the Midwest Conference opening doubleheader. His achievement of 12 strikeouts was just one short of tying the school's record for most strikeouts in a single game. This victory brought Lardi's season record to 3-0 with an ERA of 3.57.
The Blueboys are set to play another doubleheader today at Millikin University, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
