The Illinois College men's track and field team celebrated a successful outing at the Greenville Select Meet held on Saturday at the John Strahl Athletic Complex in Greenville, Illinois. The team saw significant achievements in the field events with two individual champions. Melvin Hodge claimed victory in the hammer throw with a toss measuring 51.25 meters. Meanwhile, Deon Rodgers excelled in the shotput, winning the title with a mark of 13.17 meters.
In addition to these victories, the Blueboys secured several runner-up positions. Jacob Kollman secured second place in the triple jump with a leap of 13.52 meters. Mark Flores achieved a second-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 43.37 meters, and Josh Hodge matched this result in the discus event with a mark of 38.99 meters.
Further notable performances came from Dylan Doss, who placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.92 meters. Kyle Russell and Xander Moushon also earned third places in the discus and hammer throw events, respectively, with marks of 38.85 meters and 50.58 meters. Brady Borntreger finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 40.00 meters, while Melvin Hodge matched his shotput effort here with the same result. Rounding out the top finishes, Griffin Martin secured fifth place in the discus with a throw of 37.46 meters.
On the track, the team saw more successes. Adam Hernandez earned a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.16 seconds. Doss contributed with a second-place in the 400 meters, completing the race in 47.32 seconds, and the 4x100-meter relay team clocked in at 41.78 seconds to secure another second place.
Devin Boggs competed in the steeplechase, finishing fourth with a time of 10:22.07. Looking ahead, the team is set to compete next in Terre Haute, Indiana, at the Rose-Hulman Twilight. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
