The Blueboys baseball team suffered a 6-3 defeat against Monmouth College on Wednesday afternoon at Glasgow Field, concluding their conference series. With this loss, the Blueboys now stand at 21-13 overall and 9-6 in conference play. Meanwhile, Monmouth College improved to 14-17 overall with an equal conference record of 9-6.
The game saw the Blueboys take an early lead with Louie Bartletti hitting his eighth solo home run of the season. However, Monmouth College quickly regained control by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. They extended their lead in the third inning by adding two more runs. Although the Blueboys managed to score two runs in the fourth inning, the Fighting Scots responded with another pair of runs in the sixth inning, securing their victory.
Key performances for the Blueboys included Tyler Barker, who went 3-for-3 and drew a walk, and Logan Schweigert, who contributed with two hits. Starting pitcher Jack McGuire pitched three innings and took the loss, marking his record at 3-3 for the season.
The team currently holds the third place in their conference standings with two series left in the regular season. The Blueboys are set to play their final regular season home series against Lawrence University over the weekend, which will also include Senior Day festivities.
