State Representative Jeff Keicher and State Senator Dave Syverson are partnering with Kane County Supervisor of Assessments Mark Armstrong to host an event for residents seeking help with filing for homestead exemptions in Kane County. The event is open to the public as a walk-in service, requiring no appointments.

Attendees must bring a driver’s license or state ID that lists their current address. Specific documentation is needed depending on the exemption being filed. Senior citizens should provide identification showing their birthdate and address. For the Senior Freeze exemption, applicants need to submit copies of their full 2024 federal tax returns for all household members.

Individuals applying under the Persons with Disabilities category must show proof of a class 2 or 2A disability, which can include a state ID card, SSI benefits, or a physician’s statement. Veterans with disabilities need to present a VA service disability letter confirming a combined rating of at least 30 percent. Returning veterans should bring either their DD214 form if discharged or travel orders if still active.

For additional details, individuals can contact Representative Keicher’s office at 815-748-3494 or visit RepKeicher.com. Senator Syverson’s office can be reached at 815-987-7555 or through SenatorDaveSyverson.com.

Keicher has represented Illinois’ 70th House District since his election in 2018, succeeding Robert W. Pritchard. More about his background can be found here.
