The Illinois College volleyball team lost in straight sets to Greenville University on Tuesday night. The match ended with set scores of 25–12, 25–18, and 25–18 in favor of the Cougars.
With this result, Greenville's record improved to 10-6, while Illinois College dropped to 4-12.
Greenville established control early in the first set and won decisively. In the second set, Illinois College stayed competitive with kills from Delani Klaas and Elliana Huckstep but could not hold off a late run by Greenville. The third set saw Illinois College close the gap midway through before Greenville secured the win.
Delani Klaas led Illinois College with nine kills. Teammates Orton and Huckstep contributed four kills each. Summer Brandis and Kahli O'Neal together recorded 21 assists, while Mady Salisbury had six digs on defense.
Illinois College will begin Midwest Conference play on Friday when they travel to Knox College for a match scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
