Illinois College men's soccer falls to Knox in close Midwest Conference match

The Illinois College men's soccer team experienced its first Midwest Conference loss of the season, falling 1-0 to Knox College on Wednesday at Jorge Prats Field in Galesburg, Illinois.

Both teams entered the match with similar conference records. The Blueboys now hold a 6-2-2 overall record and are 1-1-0 in conference play. Knox improved to 5-2-3 overall and also stands at 1-1-0 in the Midwest Conference.

The game was scoreless through the first half and into the second. Knox scored the only goal of the match at the 76:07 mark, which proved to be decisive.

Knox outshot Illinois College by a narrow margin, finishing with 11 shots compared to IC's 10. Tyler Lunning led IC with three shots, while Jacob Pelletier and J'aiden Cranwell-Meneses each contributed two attempts.

Goalkeeper TJ Esseily started for Illinois College but was replaced by Daniel Happach after 15 minutes. Happach made five saves during his time on the field.

Illinois College has performed well recently, posting a 5-1-1 record over its last seven matches. Over the past three seasons, the Blueboys have compiled a strong Midwest Conference record of 13 wins, three losses, and two draws.

Next up for Illinois College is an away match against undefeated Lake Forest on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., as they continue their conference schedule.
