Illinois College men's soccer defeats Lawrence University on Senior Day

The Illinois College men's soccer team marked Senior Day with a 2-1 win over Lawrence University in their final regular season match at England Stadium on Saturday.

Illinois College, known as the Blueboys, now holds an overall record of 8-3-5 and is 3-2-3 in conference play. Lawrence University fell to 0-10-5 overall and remains winless in the conference.

Jives Efemini put Illinois College ahead early by scoring off a rebound just over 13 minutes into the game. Lawrence responded less than eight minutes later, tying the score before halftime.

The deciding goal came at the 53:28 mark when Tyler Lunning found the net for Illinois College. The Blueboys controlled much of the game, outshooting Lawrence's Vikings by a margin of 32 to 2. Lunning led all players with seven shots, while Efemini and Oscar Liogon Arenas each recorded six attempts.

Goalkeeper TJ Esseily played the entire match for Illinois College.

Before kickoff, seniors Drew Herman, Tyler Lunning, and Jacob Pelletier were recognized for their contributions to the program. Over the last three seasons, Illinois College has compiled a record of 15-4-5 in Midwest Conference competition.

With this victory concluding their regular season schedule, Illinois College will await announcements regarding qualification and pairings for the Midwest Conference Tournament. The details are expected to be released on Saturday, November 1st.
