Williams Township Board of Trustees met Feb. 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Those present were: Supervisor Lee Miller, Road Commissioner Rich Bond, Trustees: David May, Jan Halford, Alan Justice Assessor: Jason Lemar, Clerk: Marla Smith & Office Manager Debra Booker.

Guest present: Marla Justice

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Jan Halford.

Trustee Halford moved to approve the minutes of the January 9, 2018, board meeting. Second by Trustee May. Motion carried.

Trustee Justice moved to approve the monthly bills. Second by Trustee May. Motion carried.

Trustee May moved to approve payroll for the month of February. Second by Trustee Halford. Motion carried.

Public Comment: Office Manager Debra Booker commented that she attended a budget seminar. She stated that it was emphasized at the seminar that if money is budgeted then that money needs to be spent. We just need to be aware of budgeted items and follow what we budget.

Supervisor Miller stated that Clerk Smith will be cross training with Office Manager Debra Booker with part of her work, specifically payroll.

Road Commissioner Bond commented that he is on the Visionary Committee at the School. He stated the school is in need for various long term goals. Could the Township look at budgeting to assist? He received reports back that CA15 rock prices have gone down but slag has gone up. Time has been spent rebuilding the chip/spreader. Additional cinders have been ordered. All have been attending pesticide application & right of way class. Federal Surplus membership is up for renewal. Trustee Halford asked if there was a cost. Road Commissioner Bond replied that there is not cost for the membership. Motion by Trustee May to approve Resolution 2018-08 Participation in Federal Surplus property program. Second by Trustee Justice. Motion carried.

Assessor LeMar has been working with Sangamon County for registration program of Mobile Homes in the Township. He has a certificate of Exempt Status of Property renewal in Logan County that he needed signed by Supervisor Miller. Trustee Halford asked if we have a lot of mobile homes in the Township. Assessor Lemar stated that we have around 50 registration forms were sent. He then led a discussion to explain assessments versus fair market value. He is going to bring copies of the MLS report from 2017 to the next meeting to help explain. The transition from Mark Thompson to Jason LeMar has been going smoothly.

Clerk Smith stated that she passed out a copy of scholarship information that TOI is distributing. She asked if the board would like her to get the information to the High School. They stated that they would like the information passed on to the school.

The meeting was adjourned following a motion by Trustee May and a second by Trustee Halford.
