Springfield Police Department issued the following announcement on June 18.
On June 16, at approximately 5:07 p.m., the Springfield Police Department was
contacted by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). SCSO detectives were working a homicide
that occurred in the 800 block of North Daniel. While conducting the investigation, information developed
indicating the suspect may have been involved in another homicide in Springfield. The Springfield Police
Department met with SCSO detectives and went to an address in the 3700 block of Peoria Road.
Springfield officers made entry into the residence and located John Buecker, age 47, who was
deceased.
Sangamon County detectives located the suspect who was identified as Jason Danenburger, 38. He is
currently being held at the Sangamon County jail.
The Springfield Police Department will continue to follow-up on this investigation, along with the
Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
