AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN POLAND: Andrzej Pośniak is the new Managing Partner of CMS Poland

American Chamber of Commerce In Poland issued the following announcement on May 6.

At the beginning of May 2019, the position of managing partner of CMS Poland was taken up by Andrzej Pośniak, who replaced Małgorzata Surdek in this role.

Andrzej Pośniak is a lawyer and tax advisor with nearly 15 years of experience in legal and tax consultancy. For over 4 years, he has been head of the tax team in Poland. He also supervises this area of CMS’s business at the level of Central and Eastern Europe and is part of the management board of the global tax practice of the law firm. For the last three years, he has been a member of the advisory team supporting Małgorzata Surdek in the management of CMS’s business in Poland. As General Counsel he was also responsible for legal, tax and regulatory risk management.

Andrzej Pośniak specializes in tax and corporate law, with a particular focus on transfer pricing, VAT and CIT, and provides support in the creation of new business models, locating foreign investments, tax and corporate planning in international transactions, restructuring and mergers and acquisitions. As a lawyer with an economic background, Andrzej Pośniak effectively combines his market and tax experience with the understanding of clients' business activities.

After 1 May 2019, Małgorzata Surdek will continue to manage CMS’s dispute resolution practice, combining procedural practice in Poland with the prestigious role of a member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris and a member of the management board of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olwang LPP in London.

The change of CMS Poland’s managing partner is related to the appointment of Małgorzata Surdek to the International Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, a leading international arbitration institution supervising arbitration proceedings conducted under the ICC Arbitration Rules. Małgorzata Surdek is one of two lawyers representing Poland in the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC during the three-year term of 2018-2021.
