Illinois state Rep. Mike Murphy (R-Springfield) is looking forward to “Ice Cream with Mike,” a meet and greet with constituents set for Aug. 21 at Scoop Du Jour in Chatham starting at 5 p.m.
"I really enjoy opportunities like this to chat with residents in a casual setting," Murphy said in a press release posted to his website. “These occasions help me ensure I’m up to date on what is most important to the district so I’m able to provide the best possible representation for our families in the General Assembly.”
The family-friendly event is being sold as a “casual legislative discussion of state or local issues” that is free and open to all.
For Murphy, it’s only the start. The first-term lawmaker is slated to host several more meet and greet style discussions across the district throughout the months of August and September.
