Poopy’s Pub and Grub, a biker bar in Savanna, is among three Illinois businesses suing Gov. J.B. Pritzker over restrictions imposed on them as part of the stay-at-home order extension to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Restaurants have been limited to delivery and takeout options, which isn’t enough for Poopy’s owner Kevin Promenschenkel to keep his business afloat.
“I know people are worried about the virus,” Promenschenkel told the Chicago Tribune. “I’m not in a position to be that person anymore because my business is as important to me as my life. For those of us that are (suing), everything’s at stake. We have no fallback — this is it for us.”
Patch reports attorney Tom DeVore is representing Poopy’s along with Dookie’s Pub and Grub in Carlyle and Visible Changes hair salon in Louisville. Each of the business owners alleges Pritzker overstepped his authority and violated the state’s Constitution with the extension of his stay-at-home order beyond 30 days.
