American Chamber of Commerce In Poland issued the following announcement on Dec. 20
The American Chamber of Commerce in Poland (AmCham) and its member companies continue to play an important role in the development of the Polish economy thirty years on from this nation’s return to democracy.
Poland is a leading location for American investment in the European Union. US companies have over 55 billion USD (229 billion PLN) in active assets in the country and provide over 290, 000 direct jobs, with hundreds of thousands of additional jobs support through services, supply chain and partnerships.
Our partnership with thousands of Polish companies, dozens of universities and research institutes and every government since 1990 has built a strong base for continued growth and investment.
As an organization committed to a secure and prosperous Poland with the best possible relationship with the United States, we must express our opposition to the media act passed rapidly in the Sejm on December 17.
The security of investments, ownership rights and media freedom are all called into question by the passage of this legislative act. As discussed in our meeting at the Presidential Palace in September, the signing of this act into law will have a further negative impact on US-Poland relations and the investment environment in the country for current and future investors.
American companies invest and grow in Poland, along with their partners, because of the tremendous talent, strong position within the European Union, improving infrastructure and the long-standing trust between our two countries.
