State Representative Mike Coffey has achieved a significant victory in the House with the passage of his bill aimed at providing scholarships for the children of Operation Just Cause veterans. House Bill 4733, sponsored by Coffey, expands eligibility for scholarships at the University of Illinois to include the children of veterans who served during the invasion of Panama between December 20, 1989, and January 31, 1990.

In a statement, Coffey expressed his motivation behind the bill, stating, "I believe the sacrifices made by our military and their families can never be fully repaid." He emphasized that including the children of Operation Just Cause veterans in the scholarship program is a small but meaningful way to acknowledge and repay them for their sacrifices.

The bill passed the House of Representatives unanimously and is now set to be considered in the Senate. This development marks a significant step towards recognizing and supporting the families of veterans who served during Operation Just Cause.
