The Illinois College women's soccer team secured a 3-1 victory over Faith Baptist Bible on Saturday in Ankeny, Iowa. This win followed IC's first loss of the season, improving their record to 6-1-1 while Faith Bible fell to 4-2.
Olivia Ralston opened the scoring for IC with an assist from Lauren Sinclar at the 7:47 mark. Faith Bible equalized at 19:21, but Erin O'Connell restored IC's lead at 41:07, which they maintained for the rest of the match. Haley Sommer added an insurance goal in the second half on a pass from Ralston at 62:50.
Stella Gonzalez earned the win as goalkeeper with two saves. Sommer led IC's offense with seven shots, while Ralston and Holly Morehart contributed four shots each.
"IC is off to the best start in school history," noted a spokesperson for the team. "The Lady Blues have scored first in every match this season."
Next, IC will face Central in Pella, Iowa tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
