Nathen Trachta sets school record as Illinois College swim teams dominate home opener

The Illinois College men's and women's swim teams competed against Principia College and Knox College in their home opener on Saturday. Both teams secured first-place victories, defeating Knox and Principia.

Nathen Trachta led the Blueboys with a standout performance in the 100-yard butterfly, setting a new school record with a time of 54.57. Trachta also won the 50-yard freestyle (22.49) and contributed to the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:51.43). Other notable first-place finishes included Matthew Elliot in the 100-yard freestyle (59.23), Cooper Meyer in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.52), and the 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:49.02).

The Lady Blues achieved nine event wins during the meet. Marjori Russo excelled with victories in both the 50-yard freestyle (26.49) and the 100-yard freestyle (58.26). Jenna Kenning won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.28, while other first-place finishes came from Abigail Glaser in the 200-yard freestyle (2:19.00), Tovah Brooks in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.81), Saydey Shubert in the 500-yard freestyle (5:55.23), and Taylor Ashbaugh in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.97). The IC's relay teams also secured wins in both the 200-yard medley relay (1:58.61) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:48.87).

The team is set to compete again at home against Monmouth College in a dual meet on Saturday, November 5th at 1 PM.
