Illinois College excels at Fighting Scot Invite ahead of MWC Championship

The Illinois College men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Fighting Scot Invite at Monmouth College on Saturday. The event saw several notable individual performances from team members.

For the Blueboys, three athletes secured first-place finishes. Kyle Little achieved victory in the javelin with a throw of 50.42 meters. Saul Hernandez took first place in the shot put with a mark of 13.92 meters, while Deon Rodgers won the discus event with a distance of 41.0 meters.

On the Lady Blues side, Brooke Oakley led by winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.25 seconds and securing second place in the 400-meter dash at 1:01.30. Other significant performances included Kristina Hilmes, who placed second in both the 100-meter hurdles (16.36 seconds) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.36). Keyleigh Thomas also made an impact by finishing second in the javelin with a throw of 31.83 meters.

The team is set to compete next at the MWC Championship hosted by Grinnell College on Friday, May 12th, and Saturday, May 13th.
