The Illinois College men's soccer team secured a victory against Lawrence University in a Midwest Conference match held on Saturday night. The Blueboys were propelled to their 2-0 win by Tyler Lunning, who scored two goals in the second half. This victory improves IC's record to 8-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference standings, placing them second.
During the first half, both teams engaged in a physical contest with several scoring opportunities for IC that narrowly missed the target. The halftime score remained tied at 0-0.
In the second half, Tyler Schiltz set up Lunning for his first goal shortly after kickoff. Within seven minutes, Reed Rogers assisted Lunning's second goal of the night. Rogers' assist marked his fifth of the season, leading the team.
IC dominated with 22 shots compared to Lawrence's two. Schiltz contributed ten shots while Lunning added five. Goalkeeper Owen Macias achieved his third shutout of the season.
The Blueboys are scheduled to face Lake Forest College in another conference match on October 21 at Lake Forest, Illinois.
