Illinois College secured a 79-64 victory over Lake Forest in a Midwest Conference men's basketball game on Sunday. The match took place at the Sports and Recreation Center in Lake Forest, Illinois.
The win improved the Blueboys' record to 15-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Foresters' record dropped to 3-13 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
Buzz Ritzel led Illinois College with 22 points and eight rebounds. Jake Mazrimas added 20 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Austin Robinson, who started for the Blueboys, contributed with 11 points and seven rebounds. Ty Lenhardt came off the bench to score another 11 points.
Lake Forest began the game strong with a 9-1 run within the first two minutes and thirty-two seconds. However, Illinois College responded with a 12-2 run to take a lead of 13-11 with thirteen minutes and forty seconds remaining in the first half. From that point, they maintained their lead, ending the first half ahead by nine points at 36-27.
In the second half, Illinois College continued to dominate, extending their lead to as much as twenty points (79-59) with three minutes and forty-four seconds left in the game.
Illinois College will conclude its two-game conference road trip on Saturday when it visits Beloit for a contest scheduled at 1:00 p.m.
