Illinois College swimmers compete strongly at MWC Championships

Cooper Meyer and Scottie Nicotra led the Illinois College men's swimming and diving team on Saturday at the Midwest Conference Championships held at the Russell K. Osgood Pool and Deck/Natatorium in Grinnell, Iowa.

Scottie Nicotra started the day for Illinois College with a third-place finish in the 400 IM, clocking a time of 4:13.97. His teammates Nathen Trachta and Xaiver Applegate finished 11th and 14th respectively in the same event.

In diving, Cooper Meyer secured third place in the 1-meter category with a score of 293. He also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing 15th with a time of 1:01.83.

John Masiliunas represented Illinois College in the 100-yard backstroke, achieving an 11th place finish with a time of 54.42. Cade Emerick took part in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 14th place with a time of 1:53.45.

The Blueboys' relay team consisting of John Masiliunas, Cooper Meyer, Eli Eberle, and Nathen Trachta finished fifth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.41.

With one day remaining in the competition, Illinois College stands fourth in team standings, just half a point ahead of Lawrence University.

The Midwest Conference Championships are set to conclude on Sunday.
