Following the conclusion of the regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees of Sherman, Illinois, the Parks and Recreation Committee will be meeting to discuss equipment purchases and other items tonight.
The committee will be discussing the acquisition of equipment for a planned municipal park site that will also house a future municipal building. The Sherman website states that this proposed park would consist of 10 acres and would feature a playground, picnic areas, an area to facilitate a dog park, a pond and gazebo area and an outdoor amphitheater.
The meeting minutes from the committee’s previous meeting will be up for a review and voted on for approval. The committee will also discuss updates to work taking place at the Crown Point and Ridgelake Parks.
The agenda does not indicate a specific time for the Parks and Recreation meeting to begin as it will follow the regular board meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Both meetings are scheduled to take place at Sherman Village Hall.
The village website states that there are currently four public parks, one park associated with the Sherman Elementary School and one private park. Total acreage for parks is reported to be approximately 100 acres.
