The Springfield Office of Public Works said road work would disrupt traffic on several streets in the city this week.

Work will consist of removing and replacing sections of curbs, sidewalks, wheelchair-accessible ramps and/or gutters. The entire project is anticipated to take approximately two months, assuming any rain or other weather delays don't cause too many work stoppages

Crews began the project this week with work on Park Avenue, between Governor and Monroe Streets. Other streets scheduled for work include

Azalea Court, Bellflower Court, Bluff, Briana, Bristol, Burning Bush Court, Chatham, (Westchester-Wabash), Clearwater Lane, Clipper, Community, Coralberry Court, Daylily Place, Elmhurst,
Fort Donelson, Glencove, Hoechester, Ironwood, Melissa, Missionary Ridge, Pine, Shiloh, Spotsylvania, Wexford and Wilson Terrace.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution when travelling on these streets and to be aware of working crews and work vehicles that are entering and exiting the work sites. It is also encouraged that alternative routes be used when during street work.

Those with questions or concerns should contact Public Works at 217-789-2255 or by email at Public.Works@springfield.il.us.
